The business of Campbell & Heeps was established by Alex Heeps and George Campbell in 1932 and opened originally selling blinds in Camberwell on Burke Rd. Custom made Products were manufactured onsite including roller blinds canvas products and drapes.

During World War Two the company manufactured tents and other canvas items for the defence forces.

After the war, the Heeps sons, Roy and Graeme, took over and the factory location was moved to 80 Highbury Rd Burwood. Here, timber Venetians made from Australian milled timber became their main product.

With the advent of lightweight metals and plastics Campbell & Heeps extended their range further to include aluminium awnings, insect screens and security doors.

Roy and Graeme drove the business through the early 70’s, and it became an icon within the industry for the supply of custom-made window furnishings. The company has been focusing on the development of new products ever since such as werpool covers, tarps and canopies.

In July 2000 Campbell & Heeps was purchased by Gary Smith and Brendan Hall, both of whom had years of experience in the canvas industry. At the same time, they bought a sister company in Box Hill known as Martin and Edwards. Martin and Edwards was the perfect ‘soft’ complement to Campbell and Heeps, with a strong background and emphasis on curtains, soft furnishings and roman blinds.

Brendan and Gary brought fresh eyes and hands and worked hard to ensure the Campbell & Heeps name became synonymous with quality artistry and excellent service. The addition of their wives Sharron Hall (Martin & Edwards) and Lynn Smith (at Campbell & Heeps) made for a formidable team.

Throughout the early 2000’s the Smiths and the Halls streamlined the product range and manufacturing processes at Campbell & Heeps and encouraged a ‘family’ feel that was extended to staff and clients alike.

This fantastic partnership came to an end in 2004/5 when the Martin and Edwards showroom was closed, and Brendan and Sharon moved on from the Company. Lynn and Gary were now running Campbell & Heeps, supported by their son Chris, Daughter Kate and Chris’s wife, Zoe.

In mid-2006 Lynn sadly passed away leaving Gary Chris and Zoe to run the show.

The last big move was made in 2009, and Campbell & Heeps took up residence in the current location 5/125 Highbury Rd Burwood.

Under the watchful guidance of Chris, the manufacturing team still custom makes your awning and blind products to the same high standard of quality.

This is backed by Gary, Zoe and the sales and service staff with an old-fashioned commitment to looking after clients’ needs.

The old-fashioned work ethic and attention to detail, ingrained in Campbell and Heeps for more than eighty years, has now been bolstered by an injection of youth and enthusiasm from the next generation. We have a constant drive toward providing the latest and best products available worldwide.
